On 14 December, the science documentary "On Collecting, Storing and Preserving" will be broadcast on 3sat (in German language). The documentary presents a wide range of "storage options" for knowledge, data and objects. In addition to the German National Library, a seed archive in Spitsbergen and an evidence room in Frankfurt, the BioBank Dresden is featured (from minute 27). Dr. Heidi Altmann, Head of the Liquids Department of the partner biobank of the German Biobank Alliance (GBA), gives an insight into the work of the biobank. Prof. Dr. Martin Bornhäuser and Prof. Dr. Peter Mirtschink, two researchers who regularly work with the biobank, have their say.
"That's the challenge of our biobank: to store the samples in such a way that they are suitable for analyses and technologies that we don't even know about today," says Dr. Heidi Altmann.
