Christoph Brochhausen named "Professor of the Year"

To provide students with connectable basics, practical competences and sought-after key qualifications, and furthermore to pave the way for a smooth career start: These are the competences sought in the UNICUM Foundation's "Professor of the Year" competition. Prof. Dr. Christoph Brochhausen-Delius, Professor of Pathology and Head of the Regensburg partner biobank of the German Biobank Alliance (GBA), took first place in the Medicine and Natural Sciences category. In total, the jury had to choose out of approximately 2,000 nominees in four categories.

Prof. Brochhausen-Delius has helped many students with their career start – in the clinical environment, but also through close connections to international research partners and companies. He regularly integrates students of human and dental medicine, molecular medicine and medical informatics into one of his research projects in the fields of digital pathology, precision medicine and biobanking. Innovative course programmes, such as the EU-funded Precision Medicine International (eduBRoTHER) programme, offer students the opportunity to learn important key skills and start networking. The BRoTHER Summer School brings international researchers and representatives of high-tech industry and medical technology together with PhD students. Formats such as "PATHO-Logical! When medicine becomes a thriller" attract not only a student audience. "Making science tangible for everyone – that is enormously important, especially during the current pandemic," says Prof. Brochhausen-Delius.
