Every year, more than one million people are diagnosed with colon cancer – a disease that is often difficult to diagnose and treat. As part of ADOPT, an EU research project coordinated by the BBMRI-ERIC European biobank network, biobanks across Europe are collecting carcinoma samples. German biobanks have provided the majority of the data sets. The news broadcaster Euronews visited the biobank in Graz/Austria, where more than 60,000 samples from colon cancer patients are stored.
